Before Terrel found out that Lucian was his initiator, he treated like he would treat any vampire- with disdain. The problem set forth in this story is that prejudice is unfortunately a problem that is common today. Many people have preconceived ideas, like Terrel, and the only way to change these notions is to have them get to know the other people. This is very difficult to do. Many people go their whole lives affected by these ideas with no knowledge about what they could be missing and how their predjudices clouded everything they ever did. Unlike most people, Terrel was able to find a way to overcome this and continue on with his life. I hope the readers of this book are able to come away with some new ideas about the world around them. I hope that Manly will continue to write more books in this genre.
